My wedding felt like a fairy tale: Kairavi Buch

Singer Kairavi Buch, who tied the knot with Jaydip Chauhan, a pulmonologist, on December 14, says, “My wedding felt like a fairy tale and I am really happy to have married an amazing person like him.”

I wrote a song for the sangeet ceremony. Also, I had recorded a song composed by Amar Khandha, and it was played during the varmala ceremony, making the moment even more special. It was a traditional Gujarati wedding with Vedic rituals, and we had about 500 guests. My well-wishers from the Gujarati music industry, like Santvani Trivedi, Umesh Barot and Manu Rabari, attended the wedding. I am grateful that everything went off smoothly. It took me a long time to finalise my wedding outfit, which was designed by Anjali Gandhi. I opted for an orange-coloured lehenga, as I wanted something different from what’s trending right now. It weighed 22kg and my dupatta had the hashtag for our wedding (#KAIसेJAYतक). Jaydip and his family are extremely supportive about my career and it’s a blessing for any bride-to-be. Kairavi shares, “With this being the wedding season, I will be occupied with work and Jaydip will also be busy for the next couple of months. We will probably plan a nice vacation in March next year.” Kairavi tells us, “We got engaged about six months ago but decided to keep it private. I always wanted to feel like a queen on my special day and we had guests coming from abroad as well, including the US, Australia and Dubai.”

‘Jaydip is a very honest person’

Talking about how they met, Kairavi shares, “Jaydip, who works at the Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, was the president of the Junior Doctor’s Association there earlier. I had a show there and he was organising it. That’s how we met for the first time and soon, we started meeting outside. We realised that we have common interests and things to talk about. He is a very honest person and very creative. Earlier, he used to listen to mostly English songs but now, thanks to me, he listens to Gujarati songs too (smiles). This year, he attended my Navratri performance in Vadodara and loved the authentic garbas.”

She adds, “He is really hardworking and proud of my career as a singer. He is also very intelligent, which attracted me towards him. I feel it’s important to be great friends with your future life partner. Our journey started with friendship and I am really looking forward to this partnership.”

Asked about who proposed marriage first, Kairavi laughs, “Both of us have different answers to this question. I will say he did!”
