We have tried to bring contemporary touch to our music: Maulik Mehta

Gujaratimovie music have been predominantly rural all this while. But there seems to be a drastic change happening on the music scene these days.
With more and more filmmakers trying to woo the urban audience with contemporary films, even the music directors are making all efforts possible to bring in this welcome change in film music as well.
And leading the way is music director duo Maulik Mehta and Rahul Munjariya, who recently composed for upcoming film City Girl 009.Says Maulik Mehta, "We have tried to give a very contemporary touch to our music to suit the tone of the film with different experimental grooves, melodies and vocals. The title song has been composed with a jazz touch to it, something that hasn't been done yet in Gujarati movies. The title song, which has been sung by Bhoomi Trivedi and Binny Sharma, will be a one of it's kind of song." The tracks are studded by popular voices like Bhoomi Trivedi, Aishwarya Majmudar, Binny Sharma and Jay Chavda.
Maulik Mehta, who has composed for over 70 Gujarati films and won the Best Music Director award a number of times, adds, "We have also recorded an peppy number called Sheher Man, which is on the lines of a typical Bollywood item song, but with a twist."
With music as well as Gujarati movies going contemporaries, it seems that Gujarati youngsters have a lot to look forward to in regional cinema as well.
