From Shankar Mahadevan, Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sachin-Jigar to Shreya Ghoshal, Jasleen Royal and Jonita Gandhi: 10 Bollywood musicians who composed and sang for Gujarati films

Sachin-Jigar have actively composed and worked towards taking Gujarati film music on national stage and have, since Wrong Side Raju, composed in several films. Their song Chaad Ne Kaho sung by Jigardan Gadhavi became a big hit featuring Yash Soni and Aarohi Patel. "Gujarati is our home turf and we want to ensure that we create music that has a universal appeal and can take Gujarati film music to the national audience," Sachin-Jigar told us.

Mika Singh made his Gujarati film music debut with Malhar Thakar and Manasi Parekh starrer Golkeri in 2020 with a promotional song Soni Gujarati Ni. The singer featured in the promotional number as well which was a song sung in his signature style. The song also featured Parthiv Gohil.

Amit Trivedi, who has shown increased interest in working for Gujarati films has already composed for a yet to be released film, which is still in its post-production mode. The composer had told us, "Composing for Gujarati films has been on the cards for some time now, but I was waiting for the right kind of project to come my way." Amit has also composed and crooned a few Gujarati singles in recent past.

One of the all time hits, Satrangi Re by Arijit Singh is still a romantic number music aficionados turn to when looking for a soulful song. Arijit's debut Gujarati song became a huge hit and it has more than a million hits online making it one of the most popular Gujarati numbers.

A modern love story, Love Ni Bhavai was a box office hit and its music by Sachin-Jigar was loved by the audience as well. While the song Vhalam was a huge hit, Jonita Gandhi's I Love You, Re Maari Savaar was much loved by the Gujarati audience.

Jasleen's sultry voice, along with Siddhart Bhavsar in Mann Melo made the song an instant hit. Sharato Lagu, starring Malhar Thakar and Deeksha Joshi was not only appreciated for its hatke story, but also for its soulful music by Parth Bharat Thakkar.

One of the most successful singers in Bollywood, Sunidhi Chauhan made her singing debut in Gujarati films with Udu Aaje from Ratanpur, an action film. The song was beautifully shot at exotic locations and performed really well on the music charts.

Shaan crooned two songs for the same film- Pappa Tamne Nai Samjhaye. Talking about working in Gujarati films, Shaan had told us, "Regional music industries are getting bigger and it is always nice to be part of something new and exciting."
