These Gujarati actors are spreading awareness about Thalassemia
This World Thalassemia Day, the Wishing Factory, a non-profit organization founded by Partth Thakur, has come up with a unique initiative to promote awareness about thalassemia. They are running a social media campaign called #AadhiwaliZindagiMitao, where people have to post a photograph of their face cropped to half, and tag three others to do the same.

The half face is to remind people to consult a doctor before planning a child. When both the husband and wife have thalassemia minor, there is a 25% chance that their child will have thalassemia major and will not live beyond 30 years. Gujarati celebs like Manasi Parekh Gohil and Shrenu Parikh gave a thumbs up to this initiative. Here’s what they had to say:

Manasi Parekh Gohil:
Meeting Partth about a couple of months back was a wonderful experience, as I got to know more about thalassemia. I instantly said ‘yes’ when I got to know about this social media initiative because it is high time that people became more aware and responsible about it.

Shrenu Parikh:
I sincerely hope we can eradicate thalassemia as soon as possible, and creating awareness is a big step in that direction. If people can check horoscopes before marriage, they can surely check about thalassemia before planning a child!
