Will focus more on mental & physical wellness this year: Pratik Gandhi

Pratik Gandhi, who had an eventful 2025, is keen to explore new things this year. The actor, whose performances in Dhoom Dhaam, Phule and Saare Jahan Se Accha got rave reviews, says, “I am keen to explore a couple of genres that I haven’t done yet. I also want to work with new directors and direct a new play this year. I aim to reach out to newer audiences.”He adds, “2026 promises to be a huge year, as we are eagerly waiting for the release of Gandhi. I hope it becomes a big success globally. I am also doing a film directed by Sumit Purohit (who co-wrote Scam 1992-The Harshad Mehta Story). I am excited about working with Rahul Dholakia again (after Agni). I am also excited about hosting the new season of Ideabaaz, and want to do a couple of plays this year.”‘I am learning to play new musical instruments’Reflecting on a busy 2025, Pratik shares, “For a long period, I have been doing multiple things at a time. I think I need to calm down a little and focus more on my mental and physical wellbeing. I will concentrate on being more patient this year. Multiple physical transformations for different roles took a toll on my health last year. While I had to achieve a ripped body for Dhoom Dhaam, I lost a lot of weight for Gandhi. There was extreme muscle loss. I will focus more on health and fitness this year.”He adds, “While I keep practising martial arts, I want to learn something new on that front. I am also learning to play new musical instruments. Also, I wish to travel more this year and explore new destinations with my family.”‘Professionally, 2025 was an excellent year’Looking back at 2025, Pratik says, “Professionally, it was an excellent year. The biggest takeaway, of course, was shooting for Gandhi, one of the biggest projects of my career, which also gave me the opportunity to work with Bhamini (Oza Gandhi, his actress-wife) for the first time on screen. Gandhi becoming the first Indian series to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF’s) Primetime programme was the biggest moment of 2025 for me. Apart from that, doing projects that were very different from one another allowed me to grow as an actor in mainstream space.”He adds, “I got a little more time for my plays last year. Also, I got to spend more time with my family after a long time.” ‘Will keep experimenting with genres’Talking about his recent projects, he says, “I will keep experimenting with genres, and I am glad that the audience is appreciating it. Phule gave me the opportunity to do a biopic, and it was a character of a lifetime. In Dhoom Dhaam, a romcom, I played a very different kind of hero. It was refreshingly different from the overtly masculine world that we have usually come to associate with a hero in films. Saare Jahan Se Accha offered audiences a fresh perspective about a spy’s world. I feel blessed to be getting such roles.”
