Rajinikanth’s 75th birthday: Chirag Jani shares UNSEEN PIC with the Thalaivar, says ‘He called me personally’

As Rajinikanth celebrated his milestone 75th birthday, tributes poured in from across the country. Among them was an emotional, exclusive reflection from South and Gujarati actor Chirag Jani.

Speaking to ETimes, Chirag shared the memory behind a priceless picture with Thalaivar, calling it “very special”. He explained how the moment took him back to the time his Tamil film 'Kaappaan' released and became a major hit, eventually earning him the Best Villain award.


He said, “This picture is very special to me. It takes me back to the time when my Tamil film Kaappaan released and became a big hit. For that role, I was honoured to receive the award for Best Villain.”

Chirag revealed that Rajinikanth was in Mumbai shooting for Darbar with the same production house when the team arranged a special preview of 'Kaappaan' for the unit. Rajinikanth watched the film along with his director and crew and his reaction changed Chirag’s life.

After the screening, Thalaivar asked the team, “Who is this guy?” Upon learning that Chirag was from Mumbai, Rajinikanth immediately told the production, “If he’s here, call him, I want to meet him personally.”

Chirag described visiting the superstar on set as a surreal moment. He recalled, “He appreciated my performance, encouraged me, and even gave me the beautiful title of ‘handsome villain’. It was a truly unforgettable moment and one of the most precious memories of my career.”

Tributes pour in as Thalaiva turns 75

Rajinikanth’s 75th birthday witnessed an overwhelming wave of love. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “Greetings to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji… His performances have captivated generations… Praying for his long and healthy life.”
Kamal Haasan added, “75 years of a remarkable life. 50 years of legendary cinema. Happy birthday, my friend.”


Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj also expressed his admiration, saying, “Happy 75 Thalaivaaa… Keep inspiring and entertaining us for many more years.”
