Actor
Pratik Gandhi, who was in Vadodara along with
Samvedna Suwalka, Kavin Dave and
Divyang Thakkar to promote their film Bey Yaar, says that the role of a good writer is sometimes underestimated and more good writers are needed if Dhollywood has to fare better. Says Pratik, We all talk about the need for more contemporary, urban flicks that will connect with the youth. From what I have seen, quite a few Gujarati youngsters go for watching Gujarati plays but the number is considerably fewer when it comes to Gujarati movies.
One of the main reasons for that is that we do not have many well-written films and in an age when the audiences have easy access to world cinema, youngsters will not watch your film if the story doesnt appeal to them. The need for good writers cant be emphasized enough and we need more of them for the industry to fare better. For instance,
Bhavesh Mandalia and Niren Bhatt are doing a fantastic job at the moment.
