Mitra Gadhvi on his next thriller film 'BHRAM': "This film didn’t just offer me a character, it handed me a storm to carry"- Exclusive
After winning hearts in 'Mithada Mehman', actor Mitra Gadhvi is now stepping into darker, more intense roles in his upcoming psychological thriller 'BHRAM', set to release on May 16. Co-starring Sonali Lele Desai, Abhinay Banker, and Nishma Soni, the film promises a gripping, emotionally complex narrative that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Known for his relatable and charming roles in Gujarati cinema, Mitra now brings a completely different side of his artistry to the big screen.
In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, the actor revealed his first reaction when reading the script of 'BHRAM', "You’ve seen me before, in many Gujarati films, stories that felt close to home. But what you’re about to witness in 'BHRAM' is unlike anything I’ve done before and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. This film didn’t just offer me a character, it handed me a storm to carry. Quietly, Constantly, Internally. I had to embody a man who looks still on the outside, but is unraveling with every breath. The chaos isn’t loud, it’s buried beneath silence. And that silence was the toughest part to live in."In the candid chat, he shared how he maintained the emotional intensity throughout the shoot. Gadhvi said, "I wasn’t just acting, I was confronting parts of myself I never dared to explore. This role broke me open, it tore through my comfort zones. It made me sit with things we usually run from, grief, doubt, rage, helplessness, and still find a way to tell the story with honesty. There were moments on set when I felt completely raw, vulnerable, and yet, something about this process was deeply liberating. When a story demands that much from you, it changes you. You walk away with more than just scenes, you walk away with scars, with truths, with transformation."
He further opened up on playing this role and expressed, "As an actor, I’ve always believed in evolution. In growing with each role. But BHRAM didn’t just push me, it stretched every emotional fiber within me. It taught me that sometimes the most powerful performances come not from words, but from the weight of silence. From the pauses that hold pain, from eyes that scream when lips don’t.""This film doesn’t spoon-feed its audience. It doesn’t scream for attention. It lingers, it haunts, it makes you uncomfortable, and in doing so, it mirrors real life. 'BHRAM' tested me in every way as an artist, as a human being, but that’s what makes it unforgettable. It’s not just a role I played, it’s a journey I survived, and now, I’m ready to share that with you, the 'Chhello Divas' star concluded.
