'Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate' has become a very special film for Gujarati cinema. The film, directed by
Ankit Sakhiya, has already crossed 100 crore at the box office. This itself is a historic moment. Now, the makers are ready to take the film to a bigger audience. The Hindi trailer of the film has been released on social media. With this, 'Laalo' is stepping into the pan-Indian space. Actor
Karan Joshi, who plays the lead role, shared his feelings about this big moment. For him, this film is not just a success, it is a dream coming true.
Karan Joshi on his first film's success
Talking about his journey in an exclusive chat with ETimes, Karan Joshi said he felt very responsible from day one. He shared, "Since beginning I felt that the kind of work I wanted to do I got that after ages so I have to give it my all to this character and don’t take this for granted. I was scared as it was my first film but at the end everything was on point."
Joshi also spoke about the big milestone the film achieved. "It’s very overwhelming and a proud feeling that my first film has crossed 100 cr. Every Gujarati including the people of Gujarati film industry are celebrating this as a personal achievement which makes me feel very blessed and special."
Karan Joshi also believes the film connected deeply with the audience. He said, "My reaction was like wow people really needed this and they got it. Somewhere this film heals something inside everyone which makes me feel quite emotional about it."
Joshi also spoke about one scene that stayed with him. "When I read this scene I was very much excited that it’ll be very interesting to perform as this was the only scene which was perfectly written."
Explaining further, Joshi said, "So basically it’s Laalo entertaining himself but somewhere the mistakes he has made hits him in between and that was tough to portray but I managed to do that."
Karan Joshi felt proud seeing the audiences react to the film saying, "When I saw the reaction of the audience that they are laughing at first and when Laalo is crying while standing there the audience were getting emotional. I loved it and that made me feel that as an actor I did a good job."
Pan-India dream and advice to youngsters
Speaking about the film going pan-India, Karan Joshi told us, "No it has not changed my perspective as Theatre taught me to see everything in general perspective."
He added, "I have waited for years to do such type of a film and to tell this kind of stories so from now onwards too the perspective will be the same."
Sharing his emotions, he said, "I don’t have words to describe this feeling as it’s going to become a pan India film and it’s my first film so I don’t know but it’s very special and I wish that just like Gujarati Laalo gets all the love from Hindi as well."
Joshi ended with advice for young artists. "Do Theatre, work on your craft, read scripts as much as you can and most importantly don’t listen to the people and put blinders around your eyes so you can only see your goals."
