Starring Karan Joshi, Shruhad Goswami, and Reeva Rachh in key roles, the Hindi-dubbed version of the film released on 9 January and has since been receiving a good response from moviegoers.
A year spent listening, not celebrating
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Ankit Sakhiya opened up about the real journey of 'Laalo', which he says, began after the film was completed. Instead of rushing for release, the team spent almost a year showing the film to small groups for honest reactions. He said, “While we were making the film, we felt it was good and that it would reach people in its own way. We believed it had something different to offer, but we never imagined it would connect with so many people in such a short span of time.”
Feedback from every corner of life
Ankit made sure the film was shown to people from all backgrounds. He did not limit it to critics or film enthusiasts. He said, “After the film was ready, we began showing it to small groups and asked them very honestly what they felt about it. We wanted to know what they liked, what they didn’t, and why.”
He added, “We showed the film to audiences from all walks of life from watchmen and cyclists to senior professionals and business owners. Our idea was to understand who the film was really connecting with and who our audience was.”
The responses surprised the team. People said the film felt new and that they had never seen something like this before. This gave the makers quiet confidence.
The report states that during these screenings, it became clear that families were loving the film. People from all agegroups watched it together and felt something. Ankit explained, “That’s when we realised something special was happening the film was being embraced by entire families. Everyone, across age groups, was enjoying it together.”
He added, “We knew then that if families came to the theatre, the experience would be truly special something rare and unforgettable.”
'Laalo' tells the story of a simple rickshaw driver who carries pain from his past. His life changes when he turns to faith on his darkest days with themes of healing echoing throughout the film.
