It’s #WFH for these D-Town celebs
The corona pandemic and the lockdown have brought all outdoor activities in the Gujarati entertainment industry to a standstill. In the absence of film shoots, movie releases, promotional activities, screenings and plays as well socialising/work meetings, life has taken a 360 degree turn for these industry professionals. However, there are many who are continuing their work from their homes to keep their creative juices flowing and meeting their work deadlines too. From reading scripts, preparing for their roles in the upcoming films, recording songs, giving final touches to post production work to writing scripts, these D-Towners like many other professionals in urban India are taking their WFH roles quite seriously.
‘PERFECT TIME TO FOCUS ON SCRIPTS’
Script writing is not only time consuming, it also requires lot of concentration. So, during lockdown, the industry creative minds are focusing their energy on scripts. Chetan Dhanani, who is in Kutch with his family says, “Since I am away from Vadodara, I have ample time to write scripts.” Actor Sunny Pancholi agrees, “As a television actor, I have a busy schedule and that gives me little time to focus on writing. Now, I am writing the script of my next directorial project.” Actress Jhinal Belani shares, “I have a very challenging role in my next film, I am utilising this break to prepare for the role. I am also having discussions with my director and scriptwriter on video chat and WhatsApp.”
‘AM RECORDING MUSIC FROM HOME’
Even before the lockdown, Parth Oza avoided travelling to Mumbai for song recording due to the coronavirus concern. So, he sent the voice recording of the song from a city-based studio. He says, “It was a good learning experience. Though the music composer was in another city, we could successfully create the song.” Even Devang Patel and Arvind Vegda have released songs on lockdown which they have recorded at their homes. Arvind says, “Thanks to smartphones, good edit softwares -- music composing and recording are possible anywhere in the world. All I had to do was to look for a sound proof corner in my house.”
‘FILM EDITING ON HOME LAPTOPS & PCS’
Many home quarantined D-Town directors are now engaged in giving final touches to their work. Shital Shah, director of upcoming film Saatam Aatham shares, “I am supervising the edited version and giving feedback to my editor.” Kirtan Patel who just wrapped filming Rang Jo Lagyo says, “My film editor is in Rajkot but he keeps sharing the edited files with me. I even worked on the teaser of the film in quarantine time.”
