Malhar Thakar, arguably the biggest star that the Gujarati film industry has today, shares a special connection with Vadodara. Malhar, who has performed many plays here in the past, has shot for a few Gujarati films in the city in recent times. And recently, he shot for
Vickida No Varghodo
, which is co-directed by Barodian filmmakers
Rahul Bhole and
Vinit Kanojia (they also co-directed the National Award winning Gujarati film
Reva). Malhar told us, “Back in 2010-11, I, Vinit and Rahul were roommates while staying in Mumbai. We had wanted to work together since then, and I am delighted that it has materialized after all these years. This particular film is a perfect family entertainer, and I get to explore the character’s school days as well as college days, which is exciting. Both Vinit and Rahul are very sorted, well-prepared and fast decision makers, and I admire these qualities in any filmmaker.”
