Talking about it, an excited Mitra tells us, “Although it’s a short film, I think this is a huge moment for Gujarati cinema. Given the travel restrictions right now, I am not sure what the situation is going to be in September. But I so very want to be a part of this prestigious event. I am really over the moon right now and the feeling is yet to sink in!”
Talking about how he got the role, Mitra shares, “I met Sush (Sushma), our director, in Mumbai and discussed the idea, after which I had to audition for the role. Once I was selected, we had an intense 15-day workshop in Mumbai. While shooting at Tithal, which was a week-long schedule, we had to encounter Cyclone Vayu also but even that couldn’t dampen our spirits.”
On a parting note, Mitra, who has been a part of several popular D-Town comedies, shares, “In Gujarati films, people have loved me in comedies, but I have always wanted to play a flawed and complex character. Finally, I got that opportunity with
Anita
, and playing Vikram (his character’s name) has been my most challenging role so far. Gujarati art/independent cinema is a very new space and I feel happy to be a part of it.”
