Hetal Thakkar on his directorial debut: It took 10 months to understand all the aspects of filmmaking

In the last few months, we have seen a lot of fresh faces making entries in Gujarati cinema. Be it as a writer or as an actor, Dhollywood is seeing a mammoth of talent coming in. Joining the bandwagon, Hetal Thakkar will be soon making his directorial debut with 'Madhav'. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, the debutant director opens up about his filmmaking journey, the film story, and other plans.

"I always believe that I am a good learner and life teaches us at every step. During the lockdown, I thought about direction, so I started learning more about it. It took 10 months to understand all aspects of filmmaking. The sentiment and experience are different and wonderful, " the filmmaker discusses his directorial debut with ETimes exclusively.
"I was always look up to the content that connects with me or I can say inspires me to do something different in regional cinema like Gujarati cinema. I wanted to create something different and untouched concepts. When the storyline of Madhav came to me I immediately decided that I wanted to create and portray this genre through cinema and I believe cinema is a result of imagination," Hetal adds.
When asked about the film's shoot, the debutante director reveals, "The first portion of my film 'Madhav' is completed as per schedule which is 75% of the total film. We have scheduled the half part of the shoot outside which we are planning to complete before Diwali."
"'Madhav' narrates a story of an intelligent police inspector who is brave. This is a different kind of movie that has been shot at the police station. 75% of the movie is shot at a single location," Thakkar shares.
'Madhav' features well-known star Hitu Kanodia alongside super talented Mehul Buch and Vishal Shah. Smit Pandya, Chetan Daiya, Aakash Zala will be seen in key roles. While the film also has the finest star cast like Hitesh Thaker, Shounak Vyas, Nisarg Trivedi, Dharti Vaghela, Atul Lakhani, Jimmy Nanda, Saloni Shah, Hitarth Thakkar, and Vishal Thakkar.
