After the GST rates on film tickets were revised and implemented from January 1, a number of multiplexes offered reduces prices on film tickets. While many saw this as an opportunity that would result in better BO collection for films, few others feel that a 6-10 per cent drop in ticket prices will not have any considerable effect on the overall collection at the box office.

released earlier this month feels that unless there is a huge difference in the ticket price, the audience will not be compelled to watch films in theaters. He says, "The audience only turns up at the theaters if the film is good. And the price difference that revised GST rates have brought is only marginal which can not alone impact footfall at the box office. Content is the king and people don't mind paying Rs500 also if the film is good. People go to watch a film either if the film is brilliant or if it stars their favourite actors."
