Feels great to be back on the sets: Yash Soni on resuming shooting
After being in a state of self-imposed shutdown, the Gujarati entertainment industry seems to be slowly crawling back to normalcy with actors starting their pending projects. While Malhar Thakar recently started dubbing for his next film, Yash Soni has resumed shooting for his upcoming project. Shooting in a remote location near Jamnagar, Yash is excited to be back on the set after almost two months of being out of action.

“I was waiting for things to resume so that I could go back to the sets,” says Yash. He has been strictly following all the safety guidelines during the shoot. Excerpts from a chat:
‘IT’S EXCITING TO BE BACK ON SET’
I simply love being on the set and facing the camera. I was eagerly waiting to get back to work even when the Gujarati entertainment industry was in a state of complete shutdown. I am happy that my next project has started almost immediately after the restrictions were eased. More than being nervous about resuming shooting during these times, I am actually very excited.
‘WE ARE FOLLOWING ALL SAFETY NORMS WHILE SHOOTING’
Even though the restrictions have been eased, we still need to be careful and follow the safety guidelines. We are shooting at a remote location near Jamnagar as getting permission for shoots in Ahmedabad is still difficult. We have a very small crew and we all are handling multiple tasks to manage with lesser number of people. We have our own cook who makes food for us so that we don’t have to move around too much for essentials. And since we are shooting in an outdoor location, the atmosphere is very relaxed. But still, everyone is being very careful on the set as we don’t want to put anyone’s health at stake.
‘WE NEED TO PUSH OURSELVES AS AN INDUSTRY TO GET BACK ON OUR FEET’
The last one year or so has been really difficult for the entire Gujarati film industry and when the shutdown happened the second time around, it hurt the industry even more. Now, we need to really push ourselves to get back on our feet. I know it is not going to be easy, but if we support each other and back ourselves, we can come out of this tough situation.
