Dhollywood set for a July shower

Many Gujarati film-makers and producers have slotted their movie ... Read More

Ever since DeMo played spoilsport, Dhollywood releases became unpredictable. In the last two-three months, the pace of movie releases slowed down further. But finally, this low phase is coming to an end. For July, at least five Gujarati movies have already announced their release dates. Thanks to promising trailers with some mellifluous music, different story lines and impressive star cast, July is a month all Gujarati movie lovers can look forward to. The big movies that have booked their dates at the BO, are

Cash On Delivery

,

Chor Bani Thangaat Kare

,

Vitamin She

,

Gandhi Ni Golmaal

and Tu Maari Aspass Chhe, films with different genres.

WHY is JULY a HOT FAVOURITE?
It was a long wait for film-makers waiting to release their films, as the summer vacation saw big Bollywood and Hollywood releases, followed by Eid release. Rajesh Patel, producer of Cash On Delivery, says, “We didn’t want to wait for any specific month. If the movie is good, it will work. Plus, there aren’t many big releases from Bollywood, which helps us get more screens.” Rahul Bhole, director of Chor Bani Thangaat Kare says, “We were waiting for the right date to release the movie. Also, post vacation and Eid, both of which had big releases, July was a safe bet for most Gujarati movie makers who were waiting for a long time to release their movies.”

LONG PENDING FILMS HIT THE SCREENS
Most actors also feel this is the right time for movie releases. Bhakti Kubavat shares, “It has been a long wait for many filmmakers, right from DeMo to exams in the state as well as big Bollywood releases. July offers a safe option to release the movies. And for many, who have been waiting for months, it is important to not delay the release further because shelved movies do not get good response.” Even Malhar Thakar says, “My movie has not been pending for long. But as the schools have reopened and there aren’t any major festivals around, this is the right time for releases. And it has been a long wait for many from our fraternity, as filmmakers waited to get the right number of screens. July is looking positive.”
Most producers have even got busy with promotional activities, both on social media as well as at campuses. With so many exciting possibilities, Dhollywood is now all set to embrace good times, with a number of upcoming releases hoping for good response from viewers.
