After a much-needed break, I am really excited to be back to work: Malhar Thakar
Malhar Thakar, who took a break from work in May after almost two years, had told us, “It’s been a busy and difficult year for me, and I felt that I needed some time off away from everything so that I can mentally prepare myself to start working again once the entertainment industry resumes work. This was needed for my mental well-being.” And now, Malhar is back to work and he recently resumed dubbing for his next film.

Not just that, he is also planning to start shooting for his next project towards the end of June as the Gujarati entertainment industry gets back into work mode after being in a shutdown for almost two months. And Malhar, who is a self-confessed workaholic, is excited to be back doing what he loves the most– making films. Excerpts from a chat:
‘I FEEL MORE ENERGIZED AND EAGER ABOUT MY FUTURE PROJECTS’
The break that I took last month made a lot of difference as I had been continuously working for the last two years. Even though there were fewer film shoots due to the pandemic, I was involved in some project or the other. So, this break has re-energized me and I am really looking forward to start shooting again. I recently started dubbing for one of my films that I finished shooting a few months back and it seems to be shaping up well. If everything goes as planned, I might start shooting for my next project by the end of June. Things are slowly opening up and we should also resume work. Having said that, focusing on safety and following the guidelines should be our priority as we can’t afford to be careless.
‘I HAVE ABOUT 10 FILMS IN THE PIPELINE, JUST HOPING THAT THINGS WORK OUT WELL’
A few of my projects are ready for release, I have finished shooting for a few and there are a few more films that I will start working on now. So, there are about 10 films in my kitty right now. But due to the uncertainty surrounding the cinema halls reopening, there is no clarity on when the ones that are ready to release will hit the theatres. The ones that I have finished shooting for are also stuck midway as the post-production work was stalled for the last two months. So, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding my projects. I am just hoping that things work out well as I have invested a lot of my time and efforts in working on these projects. Not just that, a lot of people are involved in films and they are all banking on them to reach their final destination.
‘AS AN ACTOR, IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FULFIL MY COMMITMENT TO THE FILMMAKERS’
I simply love my work and that’s what keeps me going even during these difficult and uncertain times. I immediately resumed work when things reopened after the first lockdown was eased and finished my pending projects. As an actor, it is my responsibility to fulfil my commitment to the filmmakers as a lot rides on these projects. I follow all safety guidelines strictly and encourage others to do so too, so that our work environment is safe and we can continue working. I am hopeful that the Gujarati entertainment industry will come out of this crisis stronger.
