Vibrant baisakhi mela celebrates culture and Tagore's legacy
The event was free and open to everyone, welcoming people from all communities to enjoy a wide range of performances, food stalls, and local business displays – all highlighting the beauty and richness of Indian heritage.
This year’s Mela also marked the birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, adding a special artistic touch to the event. Audiences enjoyed inspiring performances by Dakshinayan UK and Nritya Tales. Rabindranath Tagore’s work and beliefs continue to resonate today, as they reflect every level of life—spiritual, social, and personal. His poems, songs, and stories inspire deep thought, kindness, and a strong connection to one’s roots. His message of harmony among people and cultures still guides us toward a more compassionate and balanced society.
“Our aim was to bring people together in a happy and welcoming space,” said Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, the main organiser from Prayash UK. With colourful dances, traditional clothes, tasty food, and handmade crafts, Baisakhi Mela 2025 was a day to remember for guests of all ages.
