Sunil Kumar Patel of BHU holds solo painting exhibition in Varanasi

Drishyankan 2, a solo exhibition by Sunil Kumar Patel, MFA final year student of department of Painting, Banaras Hindu University, was an insight into the daily life of Banaras. More than thirty paintings displayed the different colours of the city. Right from the rituals on the ghats to popular tea stalls on the stairs of the ghats were shown in the paintings. How the city appeared during different seasons was also depicted in Sunil’s work.

“Banaras is not merely a city but a feeling which I wanted to show through my work,” said the artist.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof Mahendra Kumar Singh, dean of student, BHU. Ashish Prajapati and Mahendra Maurya were spotted identifying different spots on the ghats. “Arre yeh to apni favourite chai ki dukan hai Assi Ghat par,” said Ashish, pointing towards a painting.
