US House of Representatives honours Sumeet Tappoo

Singer-composer-humanitarian Sumeet Tappoo has closed his highly successful two-month tour of the United States of America with a moment that will be remembered for years. During his final concert in Atlanta this week, he was honoured on stage by Congressman Rich McCormick with a Medal and an Award from the United States House of Representatives. To add to the weight of the occasion, he was also presented with an official United States flag from Capitol Hill, a powerful symbol of respect and recognition.


The honour capped the conclusion of Tappoo’s ‘Close to My Heart’ tour, which covered more than 20 cities between July and September 2025. The tour drew thousands with its mix of classic Bollywood melodies from Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Jagjit Singh, interwoven with Tappoo’s own original songs. More than nostalgia, the tour carried a strong purpose.


Organised under the ‘One World One Family’ mission, USA, the effort is aligned with the vision of Sri Madhusudan Sai, a globally recognised humanitarian leader who has designed this mission around free nutrition, education and healthcare for underprivileged communities across dozens of countries including India.


For audiences, the concerts were a chance to experience music with meaning. Tappoo did not settle for a modest set-up. He flew in ten top musicians from Mumbai, delivering each performance with the polish and scale of a major production. At the same time, ticket sales fuelled medical aid rather than commercial profits. That balance of art and service resonated with both first-time listeners and long-time Bollywood fans.


The Atlanta honour was made more personal as Tappoo stood alongside his wife Dr. Krupali during the presentation. It was a picture of shared strength and commitment, a reminder that recognition of this magnitude often rests on the foundation of support at home.
