The Indian Museum marks Rabindra Jayanti with an exhibit and cultural performances
As part of mission Kala Kranti, the Indian Museum, Kolkata commemorated Rabindra Jayanti with a line of cultural performances on May 9. West Bengal Governor C.V Ananda Bose graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was split into two parts — an exhibit and a line of cultural performances by renowned dance groups.
The exhibit titled ‘Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s collection from the Indian Museum’ shed light on the life, philosophy, and ideology of the Bard of Bengal. The exhibition also featured artworks by workshop participants.
The cultural programme titled ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ had people from diverse Indian provinces performing the songs and poetry recitations on Gurudev’s works. The performances also included a traditional santhali group dance by Dr. Boro Baski’s troupe, Baul song of Gurudev by Dipannita Acharya, poem recitation by Kadambari Kalamandalam Nimmi from Kerala, performance by a professional dancer specialising in the classical Indian dance form Mohiniyattam, who performed ‘Chitrangada’.
