Solo exhibition by Nikas Safronov concludes in Delhi

Contemporary Russian artist Nikas Safronov presented a solo exhibition titled Dream Vision at the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi from December 7 to 21, 2025. The exhibition formed part of a series of shows held by the artist in India, which also included a presentation in Mumbai. According to the organisers, the exhibition featured around 100 paintings spanning different phases of Safronov’s career. The works included pieces in classical painting, symbolism and landscape, along with examples from the artist’s “Dream Vision” series. A separate group of works focused on themes related to Indian history, culture and mythology, created specifically for Indian audiences. The exhibition was held with institutional support, including backing from Rosneft. Entry to the exhibition remained free throughout its duration, organisers said, with the stated objective of widening public access. Curatorial material noted that the exhibition incorporated digital elements alongside traditional painting. Artificial intelligence and multimedia tools were used to extend the viewing experience, with the exhibition structured across multiple thematic sections. The layout moved from conventional painting formats towards digitally enhanced presentations. Safronov, who holds the title of People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, has been associated with cultural exchange initiatives through his work. His previous projects included exhibitions in several countries, and his portrait work has featured political and public figures. Earlier in 2025, his work was also presented in diplomatic and institutional settings abroad. Officials associated with the project framed the India exhibitions within the context of cultural dialogue between countries, describing art as a means of engagement beyond formal diplomacy. In recent years, Rosneft-supported cultural initiatives have included international tours by Russian performing arts groups. The New Delhi exhibition concluded ahead of the Mumbai presentation, which completed the India segment of the exhibition programme.
