Nisha Jamvwal (TOI Photo)It’s ‘shoe’time folks! For once you did not size up a person from top to toe — you did it the other way around. The treat on the feet was what you looked at as Samsonite showed off its fancy footwear at ITC Hotel, The Grand Central on Friday night. The world’s leading travel specialist, knowing that the pressurised flight cabins lead to feet swelling during long flights, decided to create shoes that breathe high up in the air.
Compered by a chirpy and cheerful Nisha Harale, the Autumn Winter 2007 Footwear Collection showcased a chic men’s line and a seductive women’s line — Prague, Auckland, Hollywood, Amsterdam and Miami.
Putting their best foot forward were Zulfi Syed, Shawar Ali, Vida Samadzai who also did a little jig on the ramp, Siddharth Kannan and brother Hrishi K, Jimmy Felix, Brinda Parekh, couple Mugdha Godse and Mithun Purandare, Rahul Nanda busy with his hugathon and Anurag Kashyap, who said he loved shoes as much as Imelda Marcos. Host Dr Ramesh Tainwala, President, Samsonite Asia, also walked the ramp with showstopper Nisha Jamvwal, who was all praise for the knee-length boots that she sashayed down the ramp in. The after-show party that followed saw the shoe-stoppers party the night away to the tunes of DJ Akhtar Fazel. Paula Vorlander, Global Marketing Head, Samsonite, renowned Italian footwear designer Alberto Del Biondi and Abhimanyu Singh, brother of Chandrachur Singh were among the others present.
