While the curtain raiser of the Pune Fashion Week 2018 kicked off with glitz and glamour on Friday, Day 1 of the event on Saturday was a star-studded evening. Designer Shalaka Pandit showcased her collection Bandish in three sections – the first named Tarana was a western collection, the second, Murki, was an Indian classical collection and the third, Thumri, was bridal couture that portrayed the many moods of a bride.
Chitrangada Singh in a pastel peach lehenga and
Kunal Kapoor wearing a royal blue garment with gold embellishments, were the showstoppers.
Day 1 also combined fashion with a cause. Shaina N C’s show Care for Cancer saw cancer survivors, working women and activists turn models and walk the ramp wearing beautiful sarees. Her collection gave a contemporary twist to the traditional saree, with intricate work and colourful drapes. Showstopper, model Candice Pinto, wore a green lehenga saree with gold work on it.
The evening also witnessed designer Sophiya Gupta (Soshai by Sofi) presenting her collection Ruh. Featuring traditional festive and wedding wear, the colours used were very pleasant and balmy. Her showstopper was actress
Swara Bhaskar in a blush pink outfit with silver Badla work.
