‘Nritya Dhaara’, a Kathak performance presented on stage
Puneites got an opportunity to experience a unique performance in Kathak- Nritya Dhaara. In the performance by three generations of dancers from one family, Guru Maneesha Sathe, daughter Shambhavi Dandekar, daughter in law Tejaswini Sathe and granddaughter Sarveshwari Sathe gave their best perform.The event organized by Rotary Club of Pune University Charitable Trust and Maneesha Nrityalaya at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, Kothrud. The objective of the event was to gather fund for providing rural schools with best infrastructure under the Rotary Happy School Project.
Nritya Dhaara presented parts of traditional kathak on stage. The performance began with Tri-Devata Stuti which is an invocation to the dancing Gods from Indian mythology, namely, Ganapati, Shiva and Krishna. The next performance was Taal Pancham-sawari, Taal presentation is a unique feature of Kathak dance. The dancers displayed their virtuosity over rhythm, followed by Sargam, Hori, Raga Megh, which depicts the onset of beautiful Monsoon, Naayika Bhed, Tarana and Jugalbandi.
