Kali Bari temple located in Khadki is hosting their 11th edition of the Basanti Durga
pujo. The five day celebration is as big that the winter
Durga puja which is prominent celebration for Bengalis and their community
“This is the only Basanti Durga
pujo that happens in Pune, and we make sure that it is as lively an experience as the winter Durga
pujo. Thus, this year the main attraction is the pandal where the Taman Ayun Temple of Bali has been recreated,” says Anup Dutta, secretary of the Pune Kali Bari committee.
Anup Dutta adds, “The pandal has been decorated in an eco-friendly way, with wood and satin cloth.”
And for those who can’t be a part of the morning rituals, they also have evening programmes.
Nilesh Salukhe, from the band Nyasa, who will be performing on Navami, says, “Being a part of the only Basanti Durga
pujocelebration in the city feels special. We look forward to performing our original singles
Tulasi and
Morey Piya. ”
