Saras Mela a hit in Patna

A grand fair, Saras Mela, was inaugurated on September 2 at Gyan Bhawan. Organised by a social organisation, the fair saw participation of artisans from all over the country. Organisers witnessed a huge

on the inauguration day. Over 70 stalls were put up selling variety of items. From handicrafts items made of bamboo sticks, jute, stones and brass to dress materials made of silk and

, the fair had everything to offer. Artisans from various states exhibited a large collection of dresses, antiques, jewellery and edible items at the fair. Santoshi Devi, an artisan from Barbigha, said, “I have been participating in this fair since 2013. On my first year, I successfully sold products worth Rs 2 lakhs. This year too, almost all my products are sold out.”

This fair is the best shopping place for those who want to decorate their houses with antique pieces and handmade decorative pieces. Visitors bought handmade flowers, wall hangings, musical

instruments

, cane chairs, artistic wall clocks and more at affordable prices. Md Shekh, a trader from Ara, said, “I have put up a stall with products like bed sheets, mats and curtains. The products are priced as per quality. These range between Rs 300 and Rs 4,500. My brother, Md Aamir, has put up a stall selling Madhubani paintings, Sikki art products, clay dolls and metal crafts. These are priced between Rs 80 to Rs 1200.”
