Mathematician Vashishtha Narayan Singh, who worked on space theory at NASA in the ’60s and ’70s, passed away in the city on Thursday. While ordinary people remembered him for his achievements, celebs from Bihar also paid tribute to him. Mathematician Anand Kumar, who is currently in Dubai, took to
Twitter to post a picture of him and wrote, “A legend has passed away.

will never have another Vashisht Narayan Singh. My tributes to the man who will always be my inspiration (sic).”
Other celebs remembered him in for his contributions. Actor Vineet Kumar said, “His death is a big loss for the entire country, especially for the field of science. He had made a name in the field of mathematics. His journey from a small village, Basantpur, in Bihar to California and then to NASA is truly inspiring. May his soul rest in peace.”
Sharing similar views, singer Shashi Suman said, “He is an inspiration for the young minds of Bihar and our country at large. My prayers for the departed soul.”
Actor Kranti Prakash, who was last seen in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, also shared his grief on Vashisht Narayan Singh’s demise. He said, “Though he has passed away, his research and achievements will keep his name alive for years to come. However, I am a bit sad that he did not get an honour from the government that he deserved. He was suffering from mental illness and
schizophrenia
for 40 years. But, no government body took an effort to provide special assistance to the great scientist.”
