Major events that kept city colleges buzzing this year
This year has been special for students of Patna, as many of their activities were inspired by significant changes that took place in our country, like Section 377, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and more. PT looks back at major events on campuses
College of Arts and CraftEarly this year, students of College of Arts and Craft were given the task to decorate the entire city with Madhubani paintings. This drive was an initiative to make the city beautiful and cleaner. Monika Sahni, a student, recalled, “Cold or warm weather did not bother us and the task that was entrusted to us was completed with full dedication. We all wanted to see our city clean.” Places like Income Tax roundabout, Chajju Bagh, Frazer Road, Biscomaun Bhawan, Vidyapati Bhawan, Maurya Lok complex and Gandhi Maidan are now looking beautiful, thanks to the paintings by students of Arts and Craft.
Patna Women’s CollegeThis year was special for Patna Women’s College as it gained autonomous status and major changes were made in its education pattern. This was done by introducing a semester system, a new syllabus and more. It also witnessed many cultural events like Miss PWC, Shravani Mahotsav, Holi Milan, Christmas games for rickshaw pullers and the transgender community. Students of different departments were taken on excursions and we celebrated Freshers’ Day and Teachers’ Day with equal elan.”
BIT Patna
The year 2018 has been an exciting year for the BITians. They did a great job by restructuring a dhaba and painting its walls with interesting designs. This small act of charity that was done free of cost brought smiles on many faces. Students got engaged in many small and big events, like distributing clothes and blankets in the slum areas and also at their college’s annual event, Jhalak.
NIT Patna
Students of NIT Patna proved their technical skills by participating in a number of events and workshops that took place on the NIT Patna campus, like their intramural cultural fest, Eccentrica, and more. Students got an opportunity to show off their geeky side as they smartly devised their apparati and
gadgets. Charulata, a student of NIT, Patna, said, “I can look back and smile now. The hard work that my friends and I put in to make our college events a success are known to all. I believe, extra-curricular
activities are equally important. I wish next year be as exciting as this was.”
