It was a colourful day for members of Inner Wheel Club of Ashiyana, who enjoyed Holi Milan thoroughly with fellow members. The ladies dressed up in traditional attires greeted each other with a touch of gulal and also sipped thandai.
Kiran Singh, ex-president of the club, told us, “I’ve prepared thandai for all the ladies and everyone loved it. We also relished sumptuous traditional cuisines which are especially made during the festival, including gujiya, malpua, jalebi, balushahi as well as gulab jamun.”
Sharing similar views, Aarti, another member, said, “We are already into the mood of celebration and this event was great way to kickstart it.
Our get-togethers are always fun-filled events, especially before festivals.”
All the ladies talked their heart out and sang folk songs. Kiran Gupta, a member of the club, said, “We organise Holi Milan every year. This is the day when we don’t talk about any social activities or work-related topics. We just have fun to refresh ourselves. It’s also the time to resolve our issues and be together, as Holi signifies brotherhood and unity.”
Before ending the function, they danced and embraced each other to wish a happy and safe Holi. Pushpa Prakash, another club member, said, “Holi depicts the victory of good over evil. I hope that this prevails in our society so that love and prosperity prevail among people. It is the time not only to enjoy but also to understand and follow the message behind celebration of this festival. It brings us closer to our culture.”
