Abhijeet Chakraborty, said, “The play revolves around a widow, Kuchhi, who conceives without getting remarried. She is being tortured by her family as well other members in society. But Kuchhi fights back and conveys a message that no one can impose their decision on a woman. People must understand the meaning of women empowerment.”
The audience appreciated the script and performances of the artistes. Kaushalaya Tiwari, a teacher and a theatre enthusiast, said, “I am happy that a play promoting women empowerment is being staged. In society, women have always been ill-treated, especially in rural India. Though many things have changed with time, still more efforts are required to change the mentality of people. Artistes put up a brilliant performance.”
Sharing similar views, Ram Bhavan Sharma, a retired government employee, said, “This is an important social issue that must be addressed. Men must understand that women deserve more respect. I hope such awareness programmes are organised, so that people learn to show respect to women.”
