A painting competition organised on World Environment Day

A colourful painting competition was organised to celebrate the World Environment Day in Tarumitra. The theme for the day was 'Save Trees, Save Earth'. The event saw the participation of over 75 students from various schools of

Patna

and

Hajipur

.

Prizes were distributed by Dr Father Robert Athickal, founder, Tarumitra, Pandit Avinaya Kashinath, Kalakaksh Secretary and Father Tony Pendenath, director of the organisation. Pandit Avinaya Kashinath said, “It is great to see that children are taking interest in saving the earth. I appreciate their vision and thoughts that they have put down on paper. Such competitions will not only sharpen their painting skills, but will also teach them the importance and need to save our

natural resources

.”

The programme was anchored by Pallavi Biswas, treasurer of the organisation and coordinated by eminent artist Shikha Kumari. Pallavi said, “Students were very excited about the competition. Every participant had a different and unique representation of the theme. Anjali Kumari, Gudia Kumari and Sangeeta Pahan of Sister Nivedita Balika Vidyalaya received the first, second and third prizes respectively. We are hoping to organise many more such events in the future.”

Sharing similar views, Shikha Kumari, said, “The paintings made by children were very innovative and praiseworthy. I never thought that they would express their ideas on paper so well.”
