A movie to revive the lost glory of cinemas in Bihar
Be it in Bengal or Bihar, Durga Puja holds a special place in our heart and culture. No wonder Ruchin Veena Chainpuri’s new film seeks inspiration from goddess Durga. Titled Dhak-e-Dhunuchi, the film revolves around an idol maker and an honest police officer, who get together to solve a case and get entangled in the process.
This thriller has been made with limited and indigenous resources. Ruchin Veena Chainpuri, said, “A sincere effort has been made to revive the lost glory of cinemas made in Bihar. The team comprises actors from the state, many of who have been associated with regional theatres for years. Most of the resources have been sourced locally.”
Sharing similar views, Dr Shubhadeep Chakraborty, who played the antagonist in the movie, said, “Unfortunately for Bihar, violence and vulgarity in the regional movies have spoilt it all. Logic and the drive to make social contribution took a backseat. However now, city youngsters are experiencing a paradigm shift in their tastes, preferences and perception towards certain things. It’s a positive change, which has encouraged new-age filmmakers from Bihar to bring back the lost times and showcase the richness of our culture once again.”
While Vineet Singh plays the main protagonist in the movie, others in the cast are Rubi Khatoon and Jiya Ganguli. Local actors, including Sharsh Shubham, Anup Kumar, Ranjeet Raj, Amar Sharma, Shushil Dev, Nihal Datta, Krishna Ravi, Vikrant Chauhan, Rajveer Singh are also a part of the plot. Gunjan Singh Rajput essays the negative character. Shuvayu Bhatacharjee is the music director and cinematography has been done by Ajaz Hussain.
