Recently, Jodhpur witnessed the three-day World Sacred Spirit Festival 2015, where Sufi singers and poets from different countries participated on the same platform. The first day at Jaswant Thada witnessed a huge crowd, and the event started with santoor player Nawab Khan’s performance, which set the tempo of the festival. Chaaryaar presented a beautiful bouquet of Sufi compositions of Kabir and Bulleh Shah.
This was followed by Chinese artist Li Daiguo’s performance, who is one of the leading artistes of Chinese traditional music communities, where he played different instruments for the guests. The
qawwali performance by Irfan-Tufail was also one of the highlights.
The event also witnessed a lecture and poetic performance by Leili Anvar and Frederic Ferney, accompanied by Langa artistes from Rajasthan. Along with music lovers and international tourists, we also spotted erstwhile Jodhpur royal Gaj Singh enjoying the music with his family members.
