Unique competition in Jaipur
Mamta and Somya (TOI Photo)If you thought that Rajasthan is all about spicy laal maas and dal baati churma then just hold on because Jaipurites seem to be getting a sweet tooth rather fast.
This was proved at the dessert-making competition, which was part of the Jaipur Times shopping festival held at the MGF Metropolitan mall. Women queued up with their recipes for sweet dishes which were yum to taste and visually delightful.
ROCKING RECIPES: The dishes on display had tempting names and looks.

So, while there was the orange flavoured kulfi to taste, there was caramel chocolate in fruits that was a visual delight. Then, there were dishes with names like slow and steady (tortoise shaped halwa), milky rasmalai and kidzee roll ( a take-off from the traditional dhokla).
JUDGES VERDICT: The crowd enjoyed the contest even as they kept digging into the yummy sweets offered by participants. We spotted Mamta, Saumya, Nikita and Ankit savouring the desserts. Even Kuldeep Rajvanshi, executive chef of Taj Leisure Hotels, who was present on the occasion as a judge was overwhelmed by the excitement of the participants and said, Everyone has performed brilliantly. The colour, texture, taste, flavour and presentation of each dish is superb.
WINNING WORDS: This contest is a fabulous idea. I have been in this city for the past 30 years and havent seen anything like this happening. It encourages ladies to be creative in their kitchen, quipped Jugnu Sharma whose caramel chocolate in fruits won her the second prize. Neelam Dujari won the contest with her orange flavoured kulfi. Sakshi and Jaya were chosen as tie-contestants for the third position.
