The lush green environs of the Gondawana Club looked recherché as the lawns were beautifully decked up for Supper Theatre. While the stage was set for The Hauntings, a play directed Vikash Khurana, the swish set of the city too was waiting with baited breath for the play to begin. And when it did, there was pin drop silence in the air as the guests were riveted to their seats watching the drama unfold on stage.
When it finally ended, the innovative manner of presenting theatre was appreciated by almost all the guests present.
Simply exquisiteIf the décor was stylishly subtle then the menu was exquisite and delectable. Be it the starters like French onion soup, Lebanese pita pockets, momos, bruschetta or the main course which consisted of jacket potatoes with sour cream and corn, chicken stroganoff and butter or the blueberry cheesecake dessert, it was sheer paradise for all those foodies out there! And for those who like to indulge in the spirited variety, there were the choicest whiskeys, wines and champagne.
Flames come aliveThe play was spooky and making it even more so, were the candle lit tables kept in the lawns. With only the stage lit up, the candle flames were the only lights that were glowing in the dark. While they did look heart-stoppingly pretty, it added to the ghostly premise of the play.
Winter fashionIf you wanted to get a quick lesson in winter fashion, the supper theatre was the place to be. Be it the stylish blazers, tunics, scarves and stoles the guests carried them with oodles of panache, making the evening a perfect blend of style, comfort and elegance.
On a songAfter the play, we caught Dr Sanjay Mukherjee in a chilled out mood. Cajoled by us, he agreed to sing a song and we must say he did a good job of rendering the song Din dhal jaaye hai raat na jaaye, even as his wife
Nayana looked on appreciatively. But, she blushed beetroot when he sang his wife's fav song Bhavre ki gunjan hai mera dil...!
