Poetry breaks all barriers and touches your heart like the Indo-Pak mushaira that was organised in the city by Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA) in collaboration with Saajhi Duniya, to spread the message of friendship, peace and undersatnding. With this the power of poetry came in the open, as we had shayars from Pakistan reciting in the city of nawabs along with poets of Lucknow.
The guest from across the border remarked that Luckhnawi andaaz of mehmaan nawazi is warm and also appreciated the city folks for it.
The gathering had poems that were quite contemporary in their appeal like that of the Pakistani shayar Anjum Salimi, who won the hearts of the audience by reciting a nazm, 'Umar ki saari thakaan laad ke ghar jaata hoon, raat bistar pe sota nahin , mar jata hoon, mere aane ki khabar sirf diya rakhta hai, main hawaaon ki tarah aa ke gujar jata hoon.
Another Pakistani shayar Ejaz Tabaqual recited a beautiful nazm, Behtee huii aakhon ki ravani mein marein hain, kuchh khwaab mere ain jawaani mein marein hain...
Making the most of this rare occasion of borderless romance with poetry were Ghazala Anwar, Sehla Ghanim, Arif Naqvi and H C Hasnain, Mohini Manglik, Mahesh Chandra Dwivedi and Satya Pal.
