Since time immemorial, theatre has been used as an effective medium for portraying history. And, it was used once again to good effect by a group of children in the age group of 8 to 14 years, who staged a play, Discovering Jaipur, at the Virasat Gallery recently. They presented a historical account of how under the guidance of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur was constructed as a city.
The idea behind staging the play was to let youngsters know about the citys history.
For this, we took inputs from Shambu Dayal Sharma, an octogenarian, who was a member of the Sawai Man Singh Guard Academy and has been an eyewitness of this historical journey, revealed Shreya Rawat, one of the organisers of the play.
