The students gyrated on the foot-stomping music belted out by DJ Shesh and Gaurav. The DJ played the usual hit numbers like Beedi Jaliyle, It's rocking, Kya Mujhe Pyaar hai, to pep up the tempo.
There were games galore for those, who cared to have more fun. The participants excelled when it came to blowing up balloons in one minute or gulping in as many soft drinks as possible. The winners of the show were Kartiki, Akshay, Sampat and Shehu. Across the city, at a Chapru Nagar, a Ganapati idol has been coated with nearly five kg of cardamoms. Each cardamom has been painstakingly stuck on the Lord giving a green hue and a lovely aroma. If it was a sweet-smelling Ganesha at one place, at another pandal set up by Shri Sati Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, at Itwari, patriotism dominated with images giving glimpses of the freedom struggle. The mandals are also taking a swipe at the slumberous administration. One of the pandals at Gandhi Putla, set up by Shri Ashok Stambh Ganeshotsav Charitable Trust, uses the tableau of Kumbhkaran in deep sleep to depict the sorry state of governance.
