The 7 km march was organised to celebrate International Non-violence Day. The presence of youngsters in large numbers made it apparent that Gandhi and his values are still relevant.
Such was the humbling effect of the Mahatama, that politicians, bureaucrats, and the aam adami, for once rubbed shoulders. Union Minister Vilas Muttamwar released tri-coloured balloons symbolising peace. Anil Deshmukh with a tri colour scarf around the neck was his suave self.
At a programme held at Yashwant stadium in the evening, Rajya Sabha MP, Datta Meghe was seen enjoying the bhajans rendered by Suresh Wadkar and Anuradha Paudwal, and a host of local artists.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of Subhadra Kumari Chauhan's poem Jhansi ki Rani and Mile sur mera tumhara by Gunwant Ghatwai and his group. The youth of the city were present in large numbers at the venue.
They enjoyed the songs and added to the mood with their patriotic fervour.
The programme concluded on a resolute note with Rtd. Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari asking the audience to pledge total support to khadi by buying at least a pair of khadi clothes in an year.
