Folk lure
It was an evening that the Lucknowites will remember for a very long time.
The acclaimed singer, Malini Awasthi, in a three-and-a-half hour 'Kalyani Sur Sandhya', organised by Railway Women's Welfare Organisation, RDSO, mesmerised the audience with singing in different genres.
Malini Awasthi started the eevning with a Ram ke sauhar 'Ramji ke bhai le janamwa, chalo kar aaile darshanwa.' This was followed by a lok geet 'Railiyaa bairon piya ko le jaye re' which she sung on audience's demand.

But the lok geet that received maximum applause was Saiyaan mile ladkaiiyaan main kya karoon.
That wasn't all.
The maverick singer had the best reserved for the last. She won their hearts by crooning a medley of Hindi songs Kabhi aar kabhi paar, Poochh mera kya naam re, jaadugar saiyaan chhoro mori baiyaan, tan dole mera mann dole, dhoondho re sajna more kaan ka baala, et al. And the song that moved everyone present there was Kahe ko byaahi bidesh lakhiya babul.
