Cricket fans organized a Mushaira on Cricket in Allahabad

Playing the game of cricket with bat and a ball is quite common, but playing it with words in a little Shayarana Andaaz, is something that no many have heard off. Right? Absolutely!!
At a time when Indians around the world are still celebrating country’s victory at the cricket World Cup in different styles, fans at Allahabad found a unique way to do so by organizing a Mushaira on Cricket.“The euphoria of the World cup has not subsided yet and as we have proved to the world that we are number one, we decided to pay tribute in a little Shayrana Andaaz,” claims the organizer of the Mushaira, Najeeb Allahabadi.
Altogether 22 Shayars participated in the event where they were divided into two teams, Dhoni XI and Sachin XI. The runs were scored based on the number of versus each poet recited during this war of words, and extra runs were given on various other parameters like the quality of the composed versus, Tarranum, Behr (metre of verse) and Talaffuz (pronunciation). A special panel of judges was made to asses everything at the event, where Dhoni XI eventually emerged as winners.
“We got a very favorable response from the people for this mushaira in cricketing fashion therefore will try and host more such events in future,” Najeeb added.
