A group of Delhi-based artists decided to cast a spell on art lovers of Lucknow with their paintings. Resounding Echoes as the exhibition was imaginatively titled, has been curated by Alka Raghuvanshi (who also happened to be one of the participating painters) and includes the works of Gopal Naamjoshi (orginally from Jaipur and who has to his credit several solo shows), Dubai-based artist Manisha Gawade and Sangeeta Singh.Ongoing at the Rashtriya Lalit Kala Akademi, the exhibition was inaugurated by the former Minister of Science and Technology, UP Sudhir Goyal.
Though part of a larger whole, eah artist has her/his defined and exquisite style. While Raghuvanshi’s Showers of Meteors had supremely contrasting shades – reminiscent of her previous works , Naamjoshi swears by his time-tested love for the Tantra which found expression in these well-mounted frames.
As Raghuvanshi took the former minister on a round of the works, he was intrigued by the artist’s impressions presented so beautifully on canvas. Resonating in your rhythm, Is my echo in you, are some of her works worth mentioning while Naamjoshi’s Dhaitri, Naad and Water are certainly showstoppers. Sangeeta Singh's Psychic Metaphors are a message about gender and power equations. Reflective Moments, Transcend and Unsold Apples were some of her intriguing works. Gawade’s Parallel Realities and Mindgames We Play were easily the exhibition’s piece de resistance.
Those who turned up included senior art appreciators like Umesh Chaturvedi, renowned lensmen PC Little and Anil Risal Singh. Secretary Lalit Kala Akademi Awani Kant Deo, and IT Commissioner Sheo Narayan Singh Anived and Abha Singh.
