doweshowbellyad=0; Dr Masood Al Hassan (TOI photo)IT was an evening of remembrance and all those who knew the great Urdu poet Wali Aasi, made it a point to put in an appearance at the venue. Rich tributes were paid to Aasi saheb (as he is still fondly referred to by all his shagrids) who was one of the most revered shayars of his time.Organised by Wali Aasis son Jamali Aasi, the evening saw some well-known names from the literary and cultural field.
Khushbir Singh Shaad, a poet of repute, remembered the time hed spent with Aasi and recited a few couplets in his honour, as did IG Dr DC Pande, a popular theatre personality.
While the creative people enjoyed reciting the shers, those in the audience were listening to recitals like "Yun to haste hue ladko mein bhi gham hote hai, kachchi umr mein magar tajurbe kam hote hai," and "Samajhte the magar phir bhi na rakhi dooriya humne, chirago jaalane mein jala li ungalian humne."Those seen on the occasion included Raees Ansari, Meeraz Faizabadi, Masood-Ul-Hasan Usmani from Dini Taleemi council, Maulana Mohammad Mushtaq, Dr MZ Khan and Munnawar Jafri, and more.
