As the sun set on the Year 2007, Nagpurians were dressed in their best party wear and welcomed 2008 with excitement, eagerness and enthusiasm. NT tells you how the city partied through the night.

Celebrating the New Year. (TOI Photo)It was the final night of the year and thus a great reason to celebrate. As hotels, restaurants and clubs decked up to ring in the New Year, the party fever had caught on to the Nagpurians and how. Despite the mercury touching 13 degrees Celsius and a cold breeze blowing throughout the day, the spirits of the city denizens were at an all-time high.
With every passing second, the intensity of celebration, joy and party mood got stronger as Nagpurians from different walks of life welcomed the New Year in their own style.

As the countdown to welcome to 2008 began, the frenzy of dancing and that of the music beats got higher.
Youngsters who had been in an excited mood throughout the day and in the evening were on a different terrain altogether. The city wore a festive look and every possible shop, building and commercial complex was illuminated. Guests at The Hotel Pride welcomed the New Year along with the RJs from Radio Mirchi. The crowd had their moments of fun, when the host asked them to recognise the voices of their favourite RJs. The scene at Krazy Castle was highly entertaining as three well-known faces from Bollywood descended upon the city to welcome the New Year 2008. Initially it was Girija Oak, who was busy giving autographs to her fans, but later it was the 'Bad Man' Gulshan Grover and Rajesh Puri aka Lallu of 'Humlog' fame, who infused a new surge of energy into the crowds. Together they all ensured that the crowd went into a tizzy.
However, the scene was different at Zinq, where there was no Bollywood presence, yet youngsters were seen enjoying every moment of their stay at the pub. Frequent cries of cheers and Happy New Year, rose from the crowds, who were engrossed in dancing to the loud beats of remixed music.
At Tuli International, the crowd danced to a host of latest Bollywood hit songs and item numbers and welcomed the year 2008, as the laser lights broke the darkness of the night. The excitement quotient here got a boost, when a section of crowd convinced Mohabbat Singh Tuli to dance on the floor much to the surprise and amusement of his family members.
At the Eastern Sports club, it was dancing and dining till the wee hours as members of the club came nattily dressed to have fun and masti.
To heighten the mood of the do, there was a fashion show too. With popular, old hit numbers like Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Chunri Sambhal Gori also being played, people enjoyed dancing to the old and new tunes. At PP’s Garage too the evening rocked and people brought in the New Year with enthusiasm. As crackers lit the night sky at 12, 2008 was welcome with gusto and loud cheers.
