Four-day sports fest wraps up at Bennett Univ
The four-day sports fest of Bennett University (BU) in Greater Noida – Sportikon – wrapped up recently. The last day of the annual inter-university sports meet was an electrifying affair. Packed with excitement, the day commenced with the finals and the decisive matches in fourteen sports disciplines, including volleyball, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, basketball, pickleball, powerlifting, discus throw, shotput, football, cricket, kabaddi, squash and chess.
The students demonstrated strategic prowess, securing gold in football, shotput (M), powerlifting, and discus throw (W). Meanwhile, OP Jindal Univ students were declared champions in cricket, table tennis, chess, and lawn tennis.
Complimenting Sportikon 2024’s participants, Vineet Jain, Chancellor, BU, said, “The univ promotes inclusivity, diversity and an equitable sports culture by encouraging participation from all segments and Sportikon contributes to the national agenda of fostering a robust sports ecosystem and nurturing talented athletes.” He emphasised the importance of competitive sports in fostering the holistic development of students and how events like Sportikon succeed in showcasing the abundant sports talent at the university level in India.
The event brought together 1200 athletes from 51 universities to showcase their talents and sportsmanship in 14 sport disciplines. The latest edition of the sports fest also saw a huge participation from women. Apart from competitions, Sportikon also conducted various training programmes and workshops for students interested in pursuing a career in sports.
The fest provided a platform for students to not only showcase their sporting talents but also to forge friendships, celebrate diversity, and create unforgettable moments together.
Bennett University’s football club won the gold
The closing ceremony was marked by the felicitation of winners, along with a DJ night. At the DJ night, the crowd grooved to DJ Moctave’s music – a mix of Bollywood, Punjabi, and Spanish tunes with a techno twist. It offered the ideal space for students to foster new friendships beyond the sports field.The fest also featured a DJ night with DJ Moctave
