Sujata Trivedi enthralled city music lovers at Deshpande Hall in Nagpur

Music enthusiasts were in for a treat when when Sujata Trivedi, a singer born and brought up in Nagpur, was once again back to the city, enchanting all with her melodious voice at Deshpande Hall. While she crooned the old melodies- betaab dil ki tamanna and dil ne jise apna kaha, her song taal se taal mila (which has been sung by her in the movie Taal) got encores from the listeners.The crowd that kept pouring in long after the musical event had started, gave a huge round of applause for her soulful renditions. This Saturday night event proved to be a pleasant change for the Nagpurians from their usual clubbing and partying. When we caught up with her, the singer said, "It's always a treat performing here. I have travelled all over the world for performances, but Nagpur ka maza hi kuch aur hai!" Her sister, Smita Gandhi, who had organised this event, said, "We often call singers from all around to perform in Nagpur, but forget about the talent that hails from our own city. The city's talent needs to be encouraged more and more."
