Hill Road was beautified by I-Clean volunteers
About 30 members from I-Clean Nagpur cleaned and beautified the walls and precincts of Ramnagar square, on the road going towards Hill Road recently. It was a continuation of the same spot done in the last two Sundays. The members learnt from a few local residents present there that people are still throwing their kitchen waste, etc. at this spot, and on the adjoining lanes of this important crossing. The roadside is also being used for other avoidable activities, despite having a fully functional & well-maintained Sulabh Shauchalaya located conveniently just across the road. They contemplated upon the idea of jointly educating the residents and domestic help about garbage disposal, and also maintaining some vigil at the spot to avoid undesirable activity, in coordination with Government authorities. They were hopeful that there would be some improvement in the cleanliness, after this activity.
Not just this but the ensuing kite festival was highlighted in one of the murals. The members appeal to all enthusiasts to avoid the use of nylon manja during kite-flying, which can prove to be very dangerous for the common man, as also for birds, livestock and the environment at large.
These clean-up drives have not only got support from the general public, but are backed by NMC, which actively participates in them and supports the team, by providing necessary equipment and manpower for removal and disposal of the collected garbage. Local residents served fruits, tea and snacks to all the volunteers.
