Shireen Gandhys Chemould Prescott Road gallery celebrated its second anniversary with much bonhomie with a preview of abstracts by Sheetal Gattani as well as a huge installation by Jitish Kallat.
Three reasons to have been there Monday evening! Shireen, whose Chemould has earned much well-deserved praise for scouting some highly-promising talent as also showcasing works of veterans, was all smiles as she welcomed friends and well-wishers on the occasion.

The modest gallerist, however, preferred to let Sheetals works take centrestage.
Sheetal, on her part, was pleased to be showcasing her works on an important occasion like this. She was heard telling her friends that her new works consisted of abstracts comprising geometric grids, saturated colours and shadows. It is void of any symbols or references, for that I believe is its greatest beauty, smiled Sheetal.
The show was attended by a bevy of art lovers like Ashok Salian, who has been hiding under the rock for quite some time; fellow gallerists Tarana Khubchandani and Rukshaan Krishna; Geetu Hinduja, who came sporting her wintry gear and made a stopover here before heading for a movie with friends; Sangeeta Chopra who came straight from work; and Sarayu Doshi who lauded the works as stunning. Seema and Jaideep Mehrotra mentioned that they had taken a breather from Jaideeps preparation for his upcoming ambitious shows and trips to their home at Alibaug.
The art fraternity was also represented by Ananya Banerjee (in an interesting cowgirl combo with boots et al) who checked out the works keenly; Kiyomi Talaulicar who sounded happy to be back with a show like this after having been homebound due to ill-health since the past few weeks; Sanjeev Khandekar; Madhao Imartey who chatted about the works with Mortimer Chatterjee; Jenny Bhatt who was excited about having completed a fun series of works; and Riyaas Komu, Chintan Upadhyaya and Anant Joshi who formed a gregarious trio as they chatted and guffawed enjoying the cheese n wine.
